Donna Connor

More than 25 years ago, Donna Connor made history by becoming the first female photographer to land a job in the main newsroom of the then-nearly 100-year-old Atlantic City Press.. Fresh out of college, the dynamic Connor infused the daily newspaper’s photojournalism department with a startling burst of creativity and innovativeness. Not only had she made history -- she was also capturing history for the long-established shore newspaper with a new and different set of eyes.

Before long, she’d branched out on her own, forming Donna Connor Photography (www.photoface.com) in 1981. Since then, Donna’s vision and passion as a photographer has been sought after by corporations and individuals alike. Whether capturing a moment of affection between comedy legends Milton Berle and George Burns or getting fussy twin toddlers to “smile for the camera,” Donna’s personable style and keen eye for a great shot helped her quickly build reputation for excellence throughout the South Jersey/Philadelphia region.

Over the years, she’s shot everything from Miss America pageants to political campaigns; from weddings to executive headshots. Her celebrity candids and gritty boxing shots have circled the globe -- appearing internationally in publications that include People, Sports Illustrated, and Time magazine. She has also shot for news organizations such as the Associated Press, UPI and Reuters.

Donna’s clients have included Atlantic City and Las Vegas casinos, several healthcare organizations, as well as the international law firm of Cozen O’Connor. Portraiture – the foundation of Donna’s business – has afforded her the opportunity to photograph both in corporate and “real-life” situations. Her love of people and ability to translate their story into a winning picture makes each portrait a collaborate effort.

Donna’s love of travel has also resulted in stunning photography taken in exotic locales stretching from Scotland to North Africa.

With a longstanding love of art, Donna is currently exploring ways to combine digital imagery with traditional artists’ tools. It is this journey that was the genesis of Artport. While photographing an arriving Spirit Airbus, Connor started shooting abstracts of the plane parts.  Digital manipulation of one of those images and the resulting artwork, led to the first in a series of discussions with SJTA officials about how to put more art in the public eye.

“I want to keep learning and exploring as a photographer,” Donna says. “Nothing about this profession ever grows old to me. There are just more and different opportunities to refine my craft and provide my clients with exceptional images.”

Donna Connor resides in Sweetwater, NJ, with her husband and two children.
