Phyllis London

The paintings of Phyllis C. London deal primarily with the forces of nature, conveying these potent symbols and themes through exacting observations of light, shadow, color, and composition.

Ms. London was born in New Jersey in a family of long established boat designers and builders. She grew up working in her family's boat shop, producing fiberglass sailboats designed by her uncle, well-know yacht designer John Cherubini, and built by her father, master carpenter Joseph Cherubini.

After high school she traveled extensively in Europe and, upon her return, began formal art studies. Her training comprises a period of study under Mert Howe, and classes with the renowned painter Zolton Szabo.

Her career includes extensive work as a freelance illustrator for publications, designers, and private commissions as well as a staff illustrator for the Sands Hotel & Casino and the Trump Corporation. Her work has appeared in Atlantic City Magazine, Surfer Magazine, the Hobie Hotline, and other publications and shows.

She has lived in New York and Florida, and now resides at the South Jersey shore with her husband, singer/songwriter and jazz violinist Lew London and their two children.

Judith A. Maddox Saylor

At the age of four, my family relocated from Philadelphia, to our new home, the farm near Gettysburg, Pa., complete with rolling hills.  Living on this self-sufficient farm, allowed me the time to begin my observations of nature and my life as an artist.  I began drawing on the cardboard inserts from my Father’s shirts, on the walls in the cellar of our 1800's Civil War farm house and even on the old barn itself.

"Every journey begins with a first step."

After attending school and working around the country, we chose Southern New Jersey to raise our family.  Our love of the sea, combined with the beauty of the area, has made this our home for almost 30 years.  It was here, that I was able to have a studio and create art.

My love of tropical foliage and flowers began on a trip to Miami, Florida, in 1967.  The colors and flowing forms captivated my attention and my palette. The Marjory Stoneman Douglas Art Gallery at the Biscayne Nature Center in Crandon Park, on the Island of Key Biscayne, in Miami, Florida, will feature my work, from February 1 through March 30, 2007.  If you are in the area, please stop by for a visit.  Many new works will be featured that are not currently available on my website.

As a member of the following arts organizations, I am inspired by other artists:  The International Society of Acrylic Painters, as well as the Florida chapter of ISAP; The Ocean City Fine Arts League; Associate Artist at The Riverfront Renaissance Center for the Arts in Millville, NJ.,

Many of my original works are offered as very Limited Edition Giclee Prints.  These 50 archival reproductions are offered on paper and canvas.  They have an artist signed Certificate of Authenticity that verifies the work. Individual as well as corporate orders are welcome.

Thank you for taking the time to view my works here at Art Port.  If you would like to see more paintings, please visit my website at www.JAMSArtworks.com.
