Kathy Johnston

Kathy Johnston is a successful, self-taught artist who was raised and has spent most of her life in southern New Jersey.

Raised in Leeds Point, in Galloway Township, N.J., Kathy was never at a loss for scenery to paint. Salt marshes, old buildings, fishing boats and historical sites were among her favorite subjects in the early part of her career.

In 1986, Kathy became scuba certified and spent the next 10 years painting aquatic subjects.

After moving to Malvern, Pa., in 1999, Kathy shifted her artistic focus to her new surroundings with a series of paintings that focused on farms, barns and antiques.

Last fall, Kathy moved to Sweetwater, N.J.  and established a studio in her home. Here she teaches painting to artists of all ages while she continues to work on her current inspiration and fascination, a series she calls Castillos De Aimales or “Animal Castles.” She is currently developing a 10-piece series focusing on air travel.

Kathy has developed skills that have received many rewards and much recognition. Her paintings and prints can be found all over the world.

The Atlantic City International Airport is pleased to have an artist of Kathy Johnston’s caliber as the first featured artist in the airport’s “Artport” program.
